The Instructional Assistant reports to and is supervised by the teacher under the direction of the Education Director. He/she is responsible for assisting in the implementation of each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Instructional Assistant provides assistance with instruction, engages students during non-instructional activities, and monitors of students while moving to and from various locations and activities. The Instructional Assistant must be able to take direction from all supervisors in carrying out Linwood’s philosophy and support students through both work tasks and limits set by supervisors.
The Instructional Assistant must also demonstrate interest and ability to address the developmental and social emotional needs of individuals with autism. He/she must be energetic and enthusiastic, as well as, patient and understanding. He/she must be flexible enough to work in various classrooms when moved and work cooperatively with all staff.
Implements instructional plans designed by professional staff. Facilitate student learning by implementing IEP adaptations and strategies. Actively support and facilitate student motivation, participation and independence in the educational program. Implement behavioral support strategies for students. Collect data on goals and objectives and behavioral plans as needed. Be engaged with students during instructional and non-instructional activities.

Must be 21 years old. Must have excellent behavior management skills and be able to redirect inappropriate behaviors quickly. Must be able to lift 80 pounds. Must be able to pass an FBI and State of MD background check. Will also be required to pass a drug test, complete a physical and a TB test.
Must have experience with Verbal Behavior and Discrete Trial Instruction.
