Job Description

The Belgrade School District occassionally has a need for various substitute positions.  These positions may be on call or may have a predefined schedule such as filling in for a vacation or extended sick leave.   There is no guarantee of continued employment.  Substitutes will have to apply for regular positions via the job website as vacancies occur. 

 

Substitute applications are accepted continually and when there is a need, the school district will contact applicants who have the necessary skills and ability and availability.

 

Please list your preference of substitute positions.  The following are brief descriptions of the opportunities to apply:

 

Food Service Worker

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of food items for the meal program.
  • Maintain kitchen and serving areas in clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
  • Clean dishes, pots, pans, and equipment.
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of food items for the meal program.
  • Maintain kitchen and serving areas in clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the assigned operational area.
  • Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.
  • Perform all duties in food preparation, meal serving and kitchen as assigned by the head cook.
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, attendance, and flexibility while working cooperatively with Supervisors and other employees.
  • Assists the cooks in proper storage of food and commodities.
  • Practices procedures in food preparation, use and care of equipment and personal habits to assure that sanitation standards are met.

 

Cross Walk Aides

  • Requires outside work and following safety rules.
  • Works in all types of weather extremes.
  • Ensure the safety of all children at assigned schools/cross walk.
  • Stop traffic at appropriate times.
  • Enter the intersection prior to the first child and remain there until the last is safely across.
  • Standing and walking are regular functions of this position.
  • Wear safety vest and use hand held stop sign to control traffic flow.
  • Monitor student(s) individually, in small or large groups in a variety of circumstances
  • Shift is scheduled typically between 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. in the afternoon.

 

Playground Aides

  • Ensure the safety of all children at assigned schools/playground.
  • Requires outside work and follows safety guidelines.
  • Works in all types of weather extremes.
  • Requires mobility to walk around the playground.
  • Assumes responsibility for play equipment.
  • Organizes group games and activities as needed.
  • Standing and walking are regular functions of this position.
  • Monitor student(s) individually, in small or large groups in a variety of circumstances
  • Shift is during noon hour, typically between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

 

Lunch Room Aides

  • Supervises student’s lunchtime and maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts.
  • Organizes group games and activities as needed.
  • Directs movement of groups to and from playground, lunchroom and classrooms in a safe and organized manner.
  • Assists staff in lunch room clean-up.
  • Reports disciplinary and other concerns to the Building Principal or Classroom Teacher.
  • Work is done inside.
  • Standing and walking are regular functions of this position.
  • Monitor student(s) individually, in small or large groups in a variety of circumstances
  • Shift is during noon hour, typically between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

General Office Aide 

  • Performs a wide variety of clerical and secretarial work, including typing, proofreading, filing, and checking and recording information for letters, memos, and reports.
  • Serves as receptionist and gives information or directs visitors to proper office.
  • May supervise the work of student helpers or volunteers.
  • Prepares displays, exhibits, and bulletin boards.
  • Operates a central telephone system.
  • Receives and greets office callers and refers them to proper persons and offices.
  • Receives, sorts, and distributes mail and office correspondence.
  • Performs work of, and attends meetings, in absence of School Secretary.
  • Handle variety of telephone calls and personal contacts with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.

Summer Labor-Grounds Work

 

  • Type of work varies including custodial work, grounds maintenance, painting, etc.  This is determined by need.

Other Type

 

  • Other positions include nursing, after school help, classroom aides/specific tutoring, etc.  This is determined by need.
