Job Description

Latham Centers compassionately and creatively helps children and adults with complex special needs, including Prader-Willi Syndrome, to lead meaningful, abundant lives. We are currently looking for qualified Children’s 1:1 Counselors.

The Children’s 1:1 Counselor plans and provides direct services to one client, which includes developing and delivering instruction, supports, and positive role modeling in the areas of life skills, community utilization, healthcare, and social and recreational activities. In addition, the counselor provides vocational training, which includes seeking vocational opportunities and enhancing supports for work for that individual. Reporting directly to the Residential Supervisor, the counselor has direct, active, and constructive interaction with clients and must maintain active cooperation with co-workers, clinical staff, medical staff, ancillary staff, community members, families, and supervisors.

The ideal candidate for this position has a Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a related field or equivalent experience. He or she must have the ability to handle children/ individuals in crisis safely, with compassion. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Fluent English speaking and writing skills, empathy and the ability to listen, good time management skills, and professional appearance and demeanor are all required for this position.

      35 hours = Mon- Fri, 7am-2pm
      34 hours = Sun 8a-9p, Mon-Wed 2p-9p
      30 hours = Sun 8a-10p, Mon-Tues 2p-10p
      30 hours = Mon-Fri 8a-2p
