1. Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from an accredited university. 2. Must hold a valid Idaho Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with a Standard Counselor K-12 endorsement. 3. Ability to work with students, staff, parents and the public. 4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports to: Building Administrator
To assist students, in a confidential manner, whose school performance is being negatively impacted due to emotional, behavioral and/or social difficulties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Guides individuals and groups of students through the development of educational and career plans. 2. Counsels with individuals and small groups of students with problems. 3. Consults with ancillary personnel, teachers, staff, and parents regarding the developmental needs of students. 4. Refers students with problems to appropriate resources as needed. 5. Coordinates the scheduling of students and resolves scheduling conflicts. 6. Provides information on the counseling and guidance services of the school to staff, students, parents, and the community. 7. Coordinates and administers the testing program of the district at the school. Interprets the results of these tests to students, parents, and the school staff. 8. Functions as a member of the Child Study Team relative to special education student placement. 9. Provides other services as assigned. Examples may include coordination of conflict resolution programs, teaching parenting classes, serving on school or district committees. 10. Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of student permanent academic records. 11. Plans and evaluates the school’s counseling program. 12. Provides crisis intervention. 13. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. 14. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. 15. Has regular and predictable attendance.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
An employee working in this position shall, at all times, be subject to the direction of the persons to whom said employee has primary responsibility or said person’s designee(s), and at all times shall be subject to the rules, regulations and policies of the District as promulgated by the Board of Trustees. Each employee shall be held responsible for having knowledge of said School District rules, regulations and policies.
This position will be up to eight (8) hours per day; and up to 190 days per year. Work hours to be established by the Building Administrator. Salary placement to be determined by the Teacher Salary Schedule, as adopted by the Board of Trustees. All terms of employment may be subject to change, as recommended by administrative staff or as directed by the Board of Trustees.
Extra days may be required for this position. Extra day assignments are identified in the current year’s master contract.
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement and board policy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to have sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity and talk or hear; stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
