General Purpose:  To teach students, collaborate with others to promote student achievement, and ensure that each student successfully achieves personal and program goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following statements of duties, responsibilities, frequency, and percentages are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   • Teach students to ensure academic, social-emotional, and workforce readiness growth and success.

  • Report daily to GOAL Education Zone locations, support a homeroom class, teach selected GOAL courses, and meet with students.

  • Record and analyze daily student activities (e.g., student attendance, grade progress toward course completion, and student engagement data).

  • Attend Student Success Meetings to evaluate individual student success.

  • Define student issues and analyze solutions using continuous improvement processes.

  • Advocate for student academic success in both GOAL and post-secondary coursework and activities.

  • Provide daily academic support and interventions as necessary to students as indicated by daily data analysis.

  • Teach effective study skills while providing tutoring support as needed, collaborating with other Academic team members and resources.

  • Ensure that student ICAP’s (Individual Career and Academic Plan) are consistently updated, collaborating with other GOAL staff members when necessary.

  • Set goals to track graduation and post-secondary progress, collaborating with students, families, GOAL staff members, and a variety of resources to ensure student success.

  • Support GOAL’s concurrent enrollment, internships, and community involvement programs.

  • Collaborate with the GOAL leadership staff to support data-based decision-making to promote student achievement and alignment among curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

 

Other Duties

  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, parents, and GOAL staff to enhance the instructional environment.

  • Maintain a high level of communication (both verbally and in writing) with other GOAL staff, students, and parents to deliver program information and address individual student needs.

  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate, effective and efficient record keeping procedures.

  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community.

  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits, such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others.

  • Assist in student recruiting and retention.

Minimum Requirements:

 

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, or related field  

  • Highly Qualified as a Colorado Secondary Educator (e.g., Math, English, Science, Social Studies), Colorado Teaching licensed and/or additional Highly Qualified areas preferred

Experience:  

  • Three to five years of experience working in a school or school system preffered

  • At least two years of experience working in a high school with at risk youth preferred

Or other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to effectively teach young people academic subjects.  

  • Ability to design learning activities that are effective for all types of learners.  

  • Love for children and ability to work enthusiastically on their behalf

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time-management, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledgeable and comfortable working with technology.  Able to competently and persistently apply problem solving skills towards technology issues.  

  • Well-versed in conflict resolution skills.  Ability to mediate conflicts (e.g., between students, staff, parents, or community members) while promoting the core values of GOAL effectively among all stakeholders.

  • Willingness to travel regionally as required.

  • Understands the benefits of continuous learning and takes personal responsibility for professional development.

  • Ethical, honest, and good-humored.

  • Strong work ethic to achieve both school and personal goals.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with regarding to students and families.
