MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related area: education, social work, public policy, etc. Minimum of three years of experience in school district operations and policy preferred. Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate at all levels, internally and externally. Ability to work flexible hours as the job may require. A valid driver's license required.

Major Responsibilities: Serves as a representative for the Superintendent in addressing student and parent concerns. Keeps the superintendent informed of these concerns. Works with parents, administrators, and patrons to resolve school/district issues as they arise. Facilitates Pre-Expulsion hearing panels when appropriate. Establishes systems and provides oversight so that the Superintendent's office is responsive to the needs of individual students, families, and staff. Serves as the representative for the Superintendent with governmental and community agencies. Assists with matters related to these relations. Develops and maintains strategic partnerships that support the District's mission and goals. Analyzes and manages sensitive issues that arise frequently in a rapidly changing environment to mitigate serious consequences for students and the District. Facilitates the Safety and Security Committee. Plans and implements professional development related to Safety and Security for all staff. Facilitates the interagency work of the Safety and Security Committee with Blaine County First Responders. Participation in/facilitation of the School District Policy Committee work. Drafts policy documents and recommendations for the superintendent and oversees policy updates needed to align with new legislation or legal mandates. Advises staff in interpreting policy direction. Keeps abreast of all changing laws and regulations related to school districts in Idaho. Serve as the Superintendent's liaison in monitoring and facilitating the progress of assigned projects and initiatives. Is attuned to the concerns and positions of parents and other groups within the community relative to district activities and plans. Takes leadership responsibility for complex short term assignments, intervenes by means of strategic problem solving. Prepares and contributes to the preparation of reports, briefings, presentations and responses on strategic issues as appropriate. Works with District's attorneys on appropriate issues. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, students, and other employees of the District. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret and implement a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work in a friendly manner and to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements, Board of Education policies, and applicable State and Federal laws.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 35% sitting, 30% walking, and 35% standing. While most duties are performed indoors, the employee may be required to perform duties outdoors in various types of weather, including inclement weather with temperatures at or below freezing for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee frequently interacts with students and staff.
