ABOUT LEAD FOR DELAWARE
One day, all kids in Delaware will attend an excellent school.
Lead For Delaware seeks high-potential leaders for our 4th cohort. We recruit, train and certify educators committed to serving in high-needs schools throughout the state of Delaware. Cohort members earn Principal certification through more than 400 hours of professional development and 600 hours of clinical experience over two years while serving full-time in teaching and other school-based roles. With a total 5-year commitment to Delaware public schools, the program is free for participants. Cohort IV will begin their journey in August of 2018.
Lead For Delaware seeks educators who are committed to disrupting systems of inequity and ensuring that all students receive an excellent education in Delaware. To be eligible, candidates must:
Have at least a master’s degree with a GPA of at least 3.0
Have at least three years of full-time teaching experience with at least two “effective” ratings
Want a rigorous, two year, practice-based, cohort-model leadership development program that expects transformative outcomes for its graduates.
Successful applicants demonstrate a willingness to commit to the intensive program while serving full-time in a school-based role in Delaware. For candidates who do not currently hold a school-based position in Delaware and are invited to join a program cohort, program staff will provide assistance in securing a position. Including the 2-year program, successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to leadership service in Delaware public schools for at least 5 years.
To be selected, candidates must demonstrate evidence of the following 5 competencies from their professional experience:
Achievers: with the drive and actions to set challenging goals and reach a high standard of performance despite barriers.
Go-Getters: with drive and actions to do more than is expected or required in order to accomplish a challenging task.
Influencers: who act with the purpose of affecting the perceptions, thinking, and actions of others.
Leaders: who assume authoritative leadership of a group for the benefit of the organization.
Optimists: who believe that all students, regardless of circumstances, can learn at levels higher than current achievement indicates.
Applicants should expect to engage with several steps in our competitive selection process. Admissions decisions are communicated within 8 weeks of the application deadline.

Performance Task: Complete an instructional leadership performance task online.
Interview Day: Participate in a series of interview sessions with program staff and partners, either on-site or virtually.
Reference Checks: The program director will gather additional information from references identified by the applicant in the initial application.
