Map Academy is starting its search for exceptional staff. We are looking to connect with our region’s most inspired, creative, and supportive educators. Opening in Plymouth, MA in September 2018, Map Academy will give off-track youth an alternative means of finding success in high school.
Map Academy, a competency-based, student-centered, trauma sensitive, charter high school in Plymouth Massachusetts is a haven for disconnected and underserved students who have disengaged from their education. Student-centered academics, a highly supportive culture, and career development opportunities equip students with the knowledge, mindsets, and skills to meet the high standards necessary for postsecondary education and meaningful employment.
Map Academy is founded on a belief that every student can succeed, but not in a one-size-fits-all educational model, which forces students to learn within a prescribed timeline. Map Academy meets students where they are when they enroll, and increases expectations as they develop the academic, personal, and social tools they need for success in high school and life after graduation.
In our on-going work with off-track youth, one theme is consistent: they feel overwhelmed by life both in and out of school and disengaged from the education they want and know that they need. Well-intentioned policies, structures, and curriculum delivery models used in traditional high schools drive too many students away from possibility. They are looking for relevance, for meaning, and for hope. These are the youth who most need our support; those whose struggles in and out of school make success a steep uphill climb. They need and deserve more. Map Academy is designed for them.
Map Academy is now enrolling students for our Fall 2018 launch. Outreach Ambassadors will help spread the word to ensure that we reach the students and families who will benefit most from the unique opportunity Map Academy will provide.
