The High School Academic Administrator directs and coordinates educational, administrative, and counseling activities of students in performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

AS A VIRTUAL TEACHER, YOU WILL...

Drives academic performance for department; Ensures conformance of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development and coordination activities; As needed, researches and implements non-K12 curriculum resources that meet state standards;
Manages teaching staff; Manages Lead Teachers and programs;
Helps articulate the school’s mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results; Utilizes/relies heavily upon communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment;
Confer with teachers, students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school; Coordinate with teacher and K12 enrollment regarding expulsions and withdrawals;
Ensure that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws, including laws pertaining to special education, CTE, LAP and other categorical programs;
Develop and oversee implementation of the school’s Student Achievement Improvement Plan;

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises on average 40+ Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) instructional staff; may supervise considerably more depending on size/growth of school. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

A Day in the Life

Are you driven by excellence to deliver instruction, support and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs? If selected, you will participate in a comprehensive new teacher training program for three weeks before the start of school. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues and learn the responsibilities required for delivering curriculum in an online environment. During this training you will also learn how to monitor student progress through K12’s learning management system, and to be a partner actively working with students and parents to advance each child’s learning.

    Job Requirements

    • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      Master’s degree in Education or Business AND
      Five (5) years of teaching experience OR
      Equivalent combination of education and experience
      Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); Web proficiency
      Ability to pass required background check

      DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      Illinois Type 75 license
      Proficiency in Microsoft Access
