ABOUT American Paradigm Schools:American Paradigm Schools was formed on July 1, 2011 with the belief that ALL students are capable of learning, given the right tools, environment, family and community support, and motivation. In 2014, American Paradigm Schools applied was awarded a major grant from the Philadelphia Schools Partnership for our work in expanding seats and student achievement at First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School. We are also the exclusive Charter School Partner for Temple University's Teacher Program.Special education teacher develop and conduct learning programs for students who have learning disabilities or impairments in their physical, sensory, emotional, or intellectual abilities.
Assess the abilities and potential of students requiring a specific study program using a variety of test and other forms of assessment. Plan special courses of study to meet the needs of students. Teach academic subjects and practical self-help skills, using different methods and aids to assist in the education process. Develop/adapt curriculum to make it relevant for students with disabilities. Observe students to evaluate and record their progress, and to detect signs of any deterioration of their disabilities. Assist regular education students in their regular education classes.Assist regular education teachers in developing/modifying curriculum to fit the needs of special education students. Maintain a safe and orderly classroom. Coordinate related parent conferences. Coordinate with related service providers to ensure needs are being met. Participate in continued growth activities (i.e. professional development)Implement school wide policies and initiatives Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related subject area, Certification or license in teaching Special Education Experience in working with children, especially those with disabilities. Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate computer literacy skills. Must be knowledgeable in all federal laws pertaining to special education and regular education student.
