JOB SUMMARY AND DESCRIPTION OF TASKS
Position: Bilingual Spanish Para-Pro/Instructional Aide- Morris Schott Elementary
Classification: PSE Union Position; Classified; Non-Exempt
Reports to: Classroom Teacher and Building Principal
Basic Function: Assist certified staff to perform instructional and support tasks related to the students’ educational development within the total school environment. Assist students in English language acquisition. Daily hours dependant upon assignment; from 7 to 7.5 hours per day.
High School Diploma. Bilingual Spanish preferred. Two years of college level coursework or pass a basic skills test. Successfully complete a written Spanish/English translation test if required. Experience with children or students in an educational setting and / or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences preferred. Possess basic clerical skills and a familiarity with first aid procedures. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. Possesses basic clerical skills and a familiarity with first aid procedures. Able and expected to attend work as scheduled. Able to model appropriate professional behavior. Ability to solve practical problems, apply appropriate judgment and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and district records required.
