An Achievement Prep Dedicated Aide is assigned to work with a specific scholar with a disability. The Dedicated Aide accompanies the scholar to all classes during the school day, implements the scholar’s behavior plan, provides individualized attention and assistance during academic classes and co-curriculars, and support the scholar during lunch, recess, and other portions of the day as specified by the Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Occasionally, the Dedicated Aide may divide her/his time between multiple scholars, if IEPs require. This position typically works Monday – Friday during school hours for scholars at a rate of $15 per hour.
Reports to: Scholar Support Coordinator
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Effective Differentiated Instruction
Model appropriate spoken and written language skills at ever opportunity
Coach assigned scholar on the DREAM values (Determination, Respect, Enthusiasm, Accountability, Mastery)
Work with scholar on academic tasks specified in daily lesson plans
Collect observations and data on scholar learning and behavior
Maintain and complete documentation of scholar work
Positive Scholar Behavior and Classroom/School Culture
Engage with, or closely supervise assigned scholar at all times
Model and encourage assigned scholar and classmates to succeed in demonstrating the DREAM values
Implement supports and consequences specified
Maintain and complete documentation of scholar behavior
Scholar Safety and Physical Well-Being
Ensure an adult is with assigned scholar during all hours specified in IEP
Promptly retrieve scholar for related services
Move with scholar to all locations when the child is not working 1:1 with another adult
Accompany scholar within total school environment to ensure sage ratios and continue to provide services as appropriate
Ask for help when a child’s behavior threatens his/her own or others’ safety
Contact Mental Health Clinicians and/or Dean(s) of Solutions during periods of crisis as a means of managing escalating behaviors
Maintenance of School and Organizational Culture
Collaborate with staff to advance the school’s mission and communicate that mission to its constituents
Adhere to and enforce school-wide protocols and policies
Actively pursue professional development opportunities, inside and outside of the school
Participate in regular team meetings with classroom teacher(s) and special education teacher(s)

Education & Experience
Associate’s degree or higher
Prior experience working with students with disabilities (preferred)
