The South Shore YMCA’s Early Learning Center (ELC) located in Hanover, MA is currently accepting applications and conducting interviews with qualified Toddler Teachers.

The Toddler Teacher is responsible for the planning, execution and overall operation of a high quality Early Childhood classroom which will encourage lifelong learning for children while providing access to the essentials needed to learn, grow & thrive. Responsibilities include providing community leadership for family/child development, leadership collaborations and the ability to demonstrate high quality service to both internal and external program participants, families, members, and volunteers to ensure family involvement, service and retention.
•Toddler Teachers work under the general direction of the Early Learning Center Director and will be responsible for; the education, supervision and care of children, curriculum planning, and family engagement in the Early Learning Center classroom.
•Successful applicants will be committed to the mission of the SOUTH SHORE YMCA and the YMCA’s impact in these three areas of focus: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
•All educators employed by the South Shore YMCA Early Learning Center will be required to successfully complete the following trainings: CPR/First Aid, OSHA and Emergency Procedures, Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting, new employee orientation and South Shore YMCA Early Learning Center orientation including all EEC requirements such as online medical training, PQ registration, and professional development trainings.

Qualifications: •Must meet state EEC licensing requirements for the educator position you are seeking/hired for. Additional South Shore YMCA requirements may apply. •Toddler Teachers who have completed or are in the process of attaining a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university and/or Associates Degree in Early Education is preferred however all EEC qualifications will be considered. •Minimum of Teacher I/T qualifications from the Department of Early Education and Care. •Knowledge and experience with the Department of Early Education and Care regulations, QRIS Standards and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). •The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies are critical to this position. •Effective teaching skills, class management skills, and the ability to implement methods to address and follow up with family needs/concerns in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values and embraces diversity. •Must meet EEC Educator Professional Development requirements per QRIS standards and the Early Learning Center’s goals. Professional Development must include at least one third of required trainings that address diverse learners. PQ Registry must remain current and reflect all PD hours, trainings and college level courses.
