Job Description

Title: Varsity Coach

Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to successfully accomplish the performance tasks listed below.

Responsibility to: Building Principal and/or Activity Director

Job Goal: Planning and implementation of the total program in each particular sport, the varsity coach shall carry out the following performance tasks:

A. Assumes responsibility for development of a total program in order to insure the quality of the particular sport.
B. Helps with scheduling contest when appropriate.
C. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as required.
D. Establishes performance criteria for eligibility of student participation.
E. Assists in maintaining necessary insurance records, eligibility forms, roster and other required reports.
F. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
G. Coaches individual participants in the skills required in particular sport.
H. Assumes responsibility for the proper care and maintenance of the facilities and equipment used.
I. Sees to the safety conditions of facilities and the safety of the students.
J. Enforces discipline and sportsmanship like behavior at all times and apples appropriate measures when established standards are breached.
K. Maintains high standards of personal appearance.
L. Assumes responsibility of maintaining a positive role model for students.
M. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Terms of
Employment: The employment period and salary shall be determined by the Board of Trustees.

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated periodically by the building principal and/or activity director.

    • High School/Trade School degree preferred
