Glenns Ferry School District is looking to hire an paraprofessional for the Middle/High School for the upcoming 2018-19 school year. The applicant must meet State guidelines for paraprofessional status. The salary is according to the negotiated salary schedule. JOB GOAL: To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefit for students.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Perform such school-related duties as assigned by the teacher or supervisor. 2) Assist in the preparation of materials adapted to the needs of the student. 3) Instruct and tutor students to reinforce and improve skills in reading, math, and language arts through small group, individual or in-class instruction. 4) Become familiar with due process procedures and confidentiality of records. 5) Display a positive attitude toward school/Title 1 programs and show respect for leadership and programming decisions made by supervisors. 6) Provide individualized instructional activities using materials and sequences selected/prescribed by the classroom teacher and other related personnel. 7) Track student progress and maintain all clerical information required of the program in a timely, accurate and thorough manner. 8) Help to maintain a positive classroom environment through performance of duties. 9) Supervise and manage student behavior in a variety of school settings according to the parameters established by the classroom teacher. 10) Discipline students in a manner consistent with school and teacher policies. 11) Use appropriate reinforcement strategies in a manner indicating empathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities. 12) Administer, score and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students. 13) Participate in staff meetings when requested. 14) Participate in appropriate in-service training and other professional development activities as requested. 15) Deal with students, parents, staff and others in a positive, encouraging manner. 16) Know and follow district policy and chain of command. 17) Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment
At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
High School/Trade School degree preferred
Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
