Counselor Position: Spanish Language preferred

Forge International School - a public school of choice - is seeking applicants to fill a FULL TIME School Counselor position for the 2019-2020 academic year. Successful candidates will hold a Masters degree from a state approved school counselor program and an Idaho Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with a School Counselor Endorsement (K-12). The position of School Counselor at Sage requires broad knowledge of theories of individual and group guidance techniques, K-12 guidance program design and experience, and ability to effectively balance preventive and crisis counseling needs. Experience working with students K-12 in an IB setting preferred.

Head of School

To provide services to students in elementary aimed at promoting the highest level of student achievement through growth in academic and address social/emotional needs. To help students overcome problems that impede learning. The counselor will guide, listen, and lend support to students who will need services beyond the scope of the regular classroom.

Successful candidates will be certified to teach in public schools, either in Idaho or in another state with a willingness to transfer certification to Idaho. Salary and benefits package depending upon experience.

    Job Requirements

      1. Holds a Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with a Counselor Endorsement (K-12) or is a certified social worker
      2. Minimum experience as determined by the Board
      3. Knowledge of computerized master schedule development
      4. Broad knowledge of theories of individual and group guidance techniques, and elementary school guidance program design
      5. Knowledge of state and federal testing procedures and requirements
      6. Strong background in the use of technology
      7. Relates extremely well to students
      8. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community groups and organizations
      9. Able to work under pressure and deadlines
      10. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills
      11. Maintain confidentiality of staff and students

      Direct Assistance to Students
      1. Assist when requested with follow-up on students that are below grade level/failing with weekly progress reports
      2. Maintain a close relationship with the child study team following directives and recommendations as needed
      3. Assist in the resolution of school-related problems
      4. Provide responsive services including consultation, personal counseling, crisis counseling, and referral
      5. Provide for a smooth transition between elementary and middle/junior high, which may include orientation programs for students and parents
      6. Assist with teacher/student/parent conferences
      7. Work in collaboration with the College & Career Advisor (Counselor)
      8. Provide counseling for students that will assist them to develop increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity
      9. collaborate with teachers, administrators, other school and school district staff, students, students’ family members, and the larger community to help meet all students’ needs
