Empower, the Idaho Connections Academy, is a tuition-free, online public charter school serving at-risk students in grades 6-12 throughout Idaho. Empower is authorized under state law by the Idaho Charter School Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Inspire Academics, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Education, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Inspire is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission, an accrediting division of AdvancED.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
Working from our office in Boise, Idaho, the Math Intervention Teacher will provide targeted instruction, assist students and parents/learning coaches with course selection, scheduling and will be the initial point of contact for student concerns that span multiple subject areas as well as non-academic issues. The Math Intervention Teacher will become an expert on essential standards/compacting curriculum as well as course and credit requirements. The teacher will work with the school counselor to establish internal and external resources as well as counseling processes for middle and high school at-risk students.
The Math Intervention Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
Compact and alignment of curriculum to essential standards:
Identify students based on the at-risk criteria defined by the Idaho Department of Education;
Analyze and monitor at-risk student course completion rates, formative assessments and state test scores;
Monitor at-risk student data including but not limited to attendance records, discipline records, communication logs, RTI meeting minutes, grade retention records, and transcripts;
Teach small group targeted live lesson daily to selected at-risk students;
Communicate standards of mastery with homeroom teachers and learning coaches;
Report data for RTI meetings;
Maintain records of at-risk student achievement in targeted areas;
Provide and support community outreach and connections with resources, and;
Other duties as assigned.
