Hours:  Full Time
Salary:  $71,000 - $80,000

Job Summary:

Builds and maintains a system of support for Special Education Services and 504 for the school district that relies upon individual school administration to assume the majority of the responsibility for managing each student’s individualized education plan. Consults with the principals and the superintendent to establish budget priorities and staffing patterns that maximize existing resources for student needs.


Qualifications:


  • Valid Idaho Education Credential with Director of Special Education endorsement or 
  • Valid Idaho Education Credential or license in related services such as school psychology, speech language therapy, occupational therapy.
  • Bachelor and Master Degree from an accredited college or university, in special education, related educational discipline and or School Administration.
  • Three (3) or more years of successful experience as an administrator, preferred, not required.
  • Ability to participate and contribute effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties and responsibilities listed below.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Provides expert knowledge in Sp Ed Law, student exceptionalities, and State and District policies and practices.
  2. Oversees and updates reports and grants as needed.
  3. Provides technical assistance to principals in all aspects of their Special Education services.
  4. Acts as the District contact for the State Department of Education, and numerous other State agencies; as well as, all Service Contract providers.
  5. Coordinates the District Self-assessment monitoring.
  6. 504 Officer for school district
  7. School Admin Sp Ed knowledge/expertise training
  8. Facilitates budgeting and staffing priorities and allotments with the Principals
  9. Monitors and adjusts budgets and staffing with Principals throughout the year. The Business Manager and HR Manager have primary responsibility for the legal and ethical management in these areas.
  10. Assists in the following areas:
    1. The hiring and evaluation of special education staff. (Principals)
    2. Special Education related complaints. (Principals, teachers, specialists, and DO)
    3. Alternative Assessment issues. (Testing Coordinator)
    4. Records management. (Technology Dept)
    5. Instructional Delivery, RTI, differentiation
  11. Monitor the following areas:
    1. EXCENT
    2. Medicaid Reimbursement process
    3. School Admin Sp Ed knowledge/expertise training
    4. Mandt, Autism, etc.
