Inspire, the Idaho Connections Academy, is a tuition-free, online public charter school serving students in grades K–12 throughout Idaho. Inspire is authorized under state law by the Idaho Charter School Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Inspire Academics, Inc., a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Education, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Inspire is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission, an accrediting division of AdvancED. Inspire Connections Academy participates in the PERSI retirement system.

Term of Project (TOP): Based on potential student enrollment changes, this position is anticipated to work until the end of the 2020-2021 school year as a full time teacher. At that time, the school and department leadership will evaluate the status of this position and could extend it for the following school year if they deem it necessary. Full time positions are eligible for most employee benefits, including medical, dental and vision.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Certified teachers will virtually manage instructional programs. Through use of the telephone, Internet and various curriculum tools they will consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program.

The Elementary (K-8) Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

Complete all grading, create progress reports and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner;
Support the instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction;
Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding (working directly with students and parents);
Communicate with parents, students, and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, score assessments, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments and coach special projects;
Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the teachers;
Develop a general knowledge of the entire program’s K-12 curriculum and a very detail knowledge of the courses for which responsible;
Support students and parents with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects;
Ability to build positive relationships with students and their families in order to engage the disengaged;
Keep student records and data up-to-date, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging all student and parent contacts;
Consult with other teachers and staff learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications for students’ programs to increase student understanding;
Work with other teachers to coordinate social activities and relevant field trips (Educational Excursions) for students;
Participate in the organization and administration of the State Testing, as directed;
Participation in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation;
Attend and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities and staff meetings;
Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    • Highly qualified and certified to teach K-8 in Idaho (All Subjects K-8)
      Preference for applicants who live in Boise or the surrounding area
      Out of state applicants may apply but they must have the valid Idaho teaching license. It is recommend they start the application process when applying: https://www.sde.idaho.gov/cert-psc/cert/ (Working hours are 8-4 MST)
      Strong technology skills (especially with Google Suite, Microsoft OS, and MS Office programs)
      Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and track intervention plans and strategies
      Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
      Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment and high degree of flexibility
      Team player track record
      Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
      Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing, field trips, and state testing events (may require overnight travel)
    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
